Coordinator II, Fleet

Provide customer service and manage fleet operations for the Regional Fleet Management program. Responsibilities include vehicle registrations, maintenance, emergency safety equipment, gasoline and maintenance cards, vehicle sales, accident claims, and budget compliance. Support and leadership guidance to volunteers is also provided.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily maintenance and repair of Regional Fleet Maintenance Program including motor vehicle registrations, operational and organizational maintenance, vehicle emergency safety equipment, gasoline and minor maintenance cards, vehicle sales, and accident, recovery and claims.
• Assist with emergency situations involving vehicle breakdowns and repairs of fleet assets; on call 24/7 for emergencies.
• Maintain DOT vehicle maintenance and required inspections per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and ARC directives.
• Assign vehicles to Regional staff for official business trips and assist with scheduling vehicle maintenance ensuring accuracy of vehicle assignment, dates and times.
• Coordinate fleet repairs with Regional Departments and Districts ensuring timely completion.
• Renew vehicle insurance cards and ensure vehicles requiring County emission tests are completed on time.
• Ensure all vehicle decals and licensing remain current.
• Assist in covering blood drives during emergency situations ensuring adequate Mobile Unit vehicle assignments.
• Ensure accuracy of the fleet database.
• Assist with periodic movement of vehicles within the region.
• Assist Manager in formulation of the Transportation Department Budget.

Requirements

• High School or equivalent required.
• Must meet DOT Physical Qualifications and Examinations.
• Must possess valid Class A-CDL with CDL-B preferred.
• Must have ability to perform DOT road-tests.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience in vehicle fleet management or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Public health or blood banking experience in a highly regulated setting preferred.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Effective oral and written communication and interpretation skills.
• Good interpersonal skills to work with multiple levels of staff and management.
• General knowledge of computer programs.
• Must be able to periodically travel to move fleet, perform fleet inspections, or other fleet related tasks.
• May have on-call duties.
• Ability to work on a team.
• Minimum height of 60 inches is required to ensure the ability to safely operate a cargo van or large truck.
• Must be able to drive throughout the region.
• Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs.
• Physical requirements may include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., squatting, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required.
