See your match score & applyThe Community Disaster Program Specialist supports Disaster Program management and volunteer workforce focusing on volunteer engagement and direct assistance to recurring local disasters in the Indianapolis, IN region. The role involves facilitating volunteer teams, supporting disaster cycle services programming, and participating in disaster response operations.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and support a diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming or specific functional activities throughout the assigned geographic area.
- Assist with the successful implementation of specific disaster cycle services program activities or functions within an assigned geographic area.
- Monitor, collect and analyze business data to improve services to individuals and communities.
- Engage disaster volunteers who are representative of the communities they serve, both culturally and linguistically.
- Support the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers, including volunteer partners, to meet specific responsibilities in disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery.
- Participate in disaster response operations in the region in alignment with the Disaster Cycle Services Concept of Operations, upon completion of training requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
- Volunteer Experience Required.
- Must live in the Indianapolis IN area.
- Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Develop project plans & budgets.
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends.
- On Call 24/7.
- Must meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment.
