Blood Collection Driver

The Blood Collection Driver is responsible for driving blood collection vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, blood products, and staff to mobile sites. The role includes assisting with setup and teardown of equipment, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance during blood collection.

Responsibilities

• Drive blood collection vehicles to transport required supplies, equipment, blood products and staff to and from mobile sites.
• Load and unload trucks and other vehicles.
• Connect personally with donors, listen to their stories and help them understand the impact of their donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
• Be detail oriented to ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
• Work with the team to setup and tear down equipment at donation sites.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• A Chauffeur's License is necessary for this position; if selected, the candidate must obtain it at the DMV if not already held.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, ability to sit or stand for long periods, adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes.
• Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
• Basic computer skills are required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
