The Investment Associate will assist senior team members in the origination, structuring, and execution of investments across AIIB’s entire product offering, focusing on financial institutions. The role involves research, financial analysis, project due diligence, and supporting internal coordination to achieve investment targets.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on projects and clients.
  • Arrange and prepare background documents for client interactions, including presentations, memos, and reports.
  • Coordinate and participate in internal meetings, and support follow-up and reporting.
  • Support project due diligence and approval processes, with emphasis on ensuring that key economic, financial, technical, and legal issues are considered and mitigants are incorporated in the financing structure.
  • Analyze financial statements, and assist project team leads in structuring transactions.
  • Prepare financial models to assess the commercial and financial viability of projects.
  • Support internal coordination through information exchanges, and work with relevant divisions of the Bank.
  • Support the senior team and management in achieving targets and objectives.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-5 years of relevant work experience in financial institution, corporate, or project finance gained in multilateral development banks, commercial/investment banks, ECAs, international credit insurance companies/broking firms, and/or international financial institutions.
  • Experience in the financial institutions sector will be an advantage.
  • A master’s degree in business, economics, finance preferred. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree will also be considered provided additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a master’s degree.
  • Understanding of international capital markets, especially commercial banks, credit guarantees/insurance, and financial products, including loans, swaps, and CDS.
  • Experience using available research tools, including Dealogic–Loan Analytics and Bloomberg, and market publications and bookrunning platforms such as Debtdomain, Intralinks, and Syndtrak.
  • Experience in structuring comprehensive solutions across financial products using debt, private equity and funds, and/or capital market instruments.
  • Experience leading or managing projects will be an advantage, with the ability to identify, engage, and work with different stakeholders across the private and public sectors, such as issuers, institutional investors, regulators, banks, and other intermediaries.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and credit skills.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and commitment to work in a respectful, team-oriented, and multicultural environment.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, French, Arabic, or languages used in Southeast Asian economies in which AIIB invests would be an advantage.
