The internship supports the implementation and monitoring of agricultural activities supported by WFP through technical assistance to producers, data collection, and support for awareness and training actions. The intern will work under the supervision of the Programme Officer in the field offices of Selibaby and Kiffa.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to agricultural activities.
  • Participate in monitoring rainfed crop areas, market gardening, and other productive infrastructures supported by WFP.
  • Support producers in applying good agricultural practices.
  • Participate in disseminating agricultural techniques adapted to local agroecological conditions.
  • Support the promotion of climate-resilient agricultural practices.
  • Participate in organizing producer training sessions.
  • Contribute to the development and dissemination of awareness materials.
  • Support the facilitation of agricultural extension sessions at the community level.
  • Facilitate experience sharing among producers.
  • Collect data related to agricultural activities.
  • Contribute to compiling and analyzing collected information.
  • Update databases and monitoring tools.
  • Contribute to writing mission reports and field notes.
  • Document good practices, innovations, and success stories.
  • Ensure regular reporting from intervention sites.

Requirements

  • Be a student or recent graduate in Agronomy, Plant Production, Rural Development, Agricultural Extension, Agricultural Sciences or related disciplines.
  • Be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program and have completed at least two years of study; or be enrolled in a master's degree program; or be recently graduated (within 6 months prior to application).
  • Have taken courses in the last 12 months.
  • Be able to travel and work at the internship location.
  • No direct family relationship with a WFP employee (son, daughter, brother, or sister).
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in the agricultural field is an asset.
  • Experience working with rural communities is desirable.
  • Knowledge of agricultural and market gardening production systems.
  • Knowledge of agricultural extension techniques.
  • Good data collection and analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in computer tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in French; English is an asset.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team and in a multicultural environment.
  • Availability for frequent field travel.
