WASH Officer

The WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process in the Kharkiv Field Office. The role supports programme development, management, monitoring, technical support, infrastructure development, humanitarian preparedness, partnership building, and capacity building to achieve WASH-related output results.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the WASH programming process.
• Prepare, manage and implement technical and administrative tasks related to WASH output results of the country programme.
• Support programme development and planning.
• Manage programme monitoring and delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational support for programme implementation.
• Support WASH infrastructure development including technical documentation, procurement and construction supervision.
• Contribute to humanitarian WASH preparedness and response.
• Engage in networking and partnership building.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.

Requirements

• Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Engineering, Public Health, Social Science, Behavioral Science, Engineering-Civil, Engineering-Environmental, Engineering-Industrial, Behavior Change Communication, Sanitary Engineering and any other related fields.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Water supply, Sanitation, Hygiene, WASH infrastructure, WASH-related programmes for developing countries and any other related fields.
• Knowledge of Humanitarian WASH, Programme/project management, Monitoring and evaluation, Capacity development, Knowledge management, National government WASH policies and strategies.
• Fluency in English and Ukrainian is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
• Humanitarian work, Humanitarian WASH experience, WASH in schools and health centers experience, Environmental and social safeguards, Construction contract management, Donor reporting experience is an asset.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
