Immunization Specialist

The Immunization Specialist will provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen vaccine supply chain systems, cold chain management, and logistics performance in the Union of the Comoros. The role involves supporting planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Immunization Supply Chain management aligned with national and international priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen vaccine supply chain systems, cold chain management, and logistics performance.
• Support planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Immunization Supply Chain management.
• Ensure alignment with Effective Vaccine Management (EVM 2.0) assessment, national Continuous Improvement Plan, Immunization Supply Chain Strategy, Thrive360, and Gavi 6.0 priorities.
• Collaborate with Ministry of Health, Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), UNICEF Supply Division, and key immunization partners to strengthen end-to-end vaccine supply chain performance.
• Enhance Effective Vaccine Management practices, improve vaccine forecasting and stock management, and optimize vaccine distribution systems.
• Strengthen cold chain equipment management and maintenance, and promote effective use of logistics information systems.
• Support capacity development at all levels of the health system and strengthen coordination through National Logistics Working Groups.
• Support institutionalization of evidence-based decision-making and strengthen supply chain governance mechanisms.
• Promote digitalization of logistics systems and contribute to building a resilient, efficient, sustainable, and equitable immunization supply chain.

Requirements

• Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in Public Health, Supply/Purchasing, Logistics, Medicine, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, International Development, Health Informatics and any other related fields.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Supply Management/Contracting/Logistics, Health, Immunization Supply Chain, Cold Chain Management, Vaccine Forecasting, Stock Management, Distribution, Last Mile Delivery, Maintenance Management, Environmental Sustainability and any other related fields.
• Fluency in English and French language is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
• Developing Countries Experience, Engagement with Ministries of Health, UN system experience, EVM 2.0 Assessment experience, eLMIS Implementation Experience and Knowledge of International Public Health is an asset.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
