Under the guidance and supervision of Deputy Representative, establish and implement Nepal Country Office emergency preparedness and response. Responsible for development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of emergency interventions to ensure survival and well-being of children, mothers, and affected communities in emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement Nepal Country Office emergency preparedness and response
  • Develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate emergency interventions to ensure survival and well-being of children, mothers, and affected communities
  • Provide technical oversight to emergency preparedness and response actions led by field offices
  • Coordinate closely with Chief Field Offices and section heads in Kathmandu
  • Lead emergency preparedness, emergency response, and emergency project activities

Requirements

  • Master or equivalent (Advanced University Degree) in international relations, international law, Nutrition
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in programme/project development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and administration
  • Field work experience is required
  • Knowledge of UN humanitarian reform principles, international humanitarian laws, global humanitarian issues
  • Proficient/Fluent in both English and Nepali
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is desirable
  • Developing-country experience, UN system experience, maternal health, neonatal health, humanitarian preparedness are desirable
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable
  • Proven track record of leading DRR, emergency preparedness and response actions in close coordination with government, partners and different levels within the organization is desirable
  • Experience in fundraising to support emergency preparedness and response actions is desirable
  • Experience in establishing and providing strategic leadership for partnerships and resource mobilization opportunities to support emergency preparedness and response is desirable
  • Demonstrated skills in drafting and compiling high quality reports in English and Nepali
  • Strong thought leadership capacity in emergency preparedness and response
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and monitoring programme funds and resources and verify compliance with organizational guidelines, rules and regulations
