Deputy Representative Programme

The Deputy Representative serves as the principal adviser on the overall management of the Country Office, development of policies and strategies, and coordinates all phases of the Country Office Programme. The role supports leadership in partnerships and is accountable for humanitarian programme delivery in a protracted humanitarian setting.

Responsibilities

• Support to the Representative on Managing the Country Office.
• CO Programme Planning and Development.
• Monitoring and Quality Control of Programmes.
• Representation, Alliance Building and UN System Coordination.
• Private Sector Engagement and Partnerships.
• Innovation, Knowledge Management and Capacity Building.
• Security of Personnel, Programmes and Organizational Assets.

Requirements

• An advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, government and public relations, public or social policy, sociology, social or community development, or another relevant technical field is required.
• A minimum of ten years of professional development experience combining technical and managerial leadership in development cooperation at the international level, some of which served in developing countries is required.
• Relevant professional experience in any UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.
• Experience in humanitarian settings is strongly desired.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
