Consultant for development of Air Quality Strategy for UNICEF

The consultant will develop an Air Quality Strategy for UNICEF focusing on air pollution issues affecting children in Pakistan, particularly in relation to environmental health and WASH sectors. The role involves policy analysis, strategy development, and multi-sectoral programme support with a focus on evidence-based research and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop an Air Quality Strategy for UNICEF in Pakistan addressing both indoor and outdoor air pollution affecting children
• Conduct evidence-based research and analysis on air pollution and its impacts on child health and well-being
• Translate research findings into policy and programmatic recommendations
• Engage with stakeholders including government, UN agencies, and development partners to support multi-sectoral programme development and implementation
• Support UNICEF’s efforts to address air pollution challenges through strategic planning and advocacy

Requirements

• Master’s Degree environmental health, public health, environmental science, climate change, or a related field
• At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in air quality, environmental health or closely related sectors
• Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, strategy development, and multi-sectoral programmes
• Proven understanding of air pollution issues in low- and middle-income countries, preferably in South Asia or Pakistan
• Experience in conducting evidence-based research and translating findings into policy and programmatic recommendations
• Strong analytical writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Urdu is required
• Knowledge of provincial/local languages will be considered an asset
• Prior experience working with UN agencies, governments, or development partners is highly desirable
