The Communication Officer (Digital) supports the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of advocacy and communication strategies to promote children's and women's issues. The role involves producing digital multimedia content, managing social media platforms, donor visibility, UNICEF Syria’s website, digital advocacy campaigns, and communication branding for events and campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy to get children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives in the country, and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand.
  • Support the production of digital multimedia content.
  • Manage social media platforms and UNICEF Syria’s website.
  • Support donor visibility and communication branding for events and campaigns.
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of communication activities including during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or any other related fields.
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, interactive digital media, and/or any other related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies, manage and optimize engagement across social media platforms, foster collaboration and build strong professional networks with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong technical knowledge with the capacity to apply digital communication tools and emerging technologies to support organizational objectives and enhance outreach efforts.
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF and/or UN policies, programming approaches, branding and communication standards, human rights and development issues and organizational procedures is highly desirable.
  • Experience in field work, emergency communication, video production, photography and social media analytics is highly desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is a strong asset.
