See your match score & applyThe Driver provides safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services to support UNHCR operations in Sudan. Responsible for transporting personnel, maintaining vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety and security protocols, and supporting fleet management to enable effective delivery of UNHCR's mandate.
Responsibilities
- Drive UNHCR vehicles for transport of authorized passengers and delivery/collection of documents and items
- Meet official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitate immigration and customs formalities
- Perform day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.
- Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and maintained to security standards
- Perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, keep vehicle clean
- Follow rules and regulations in case of involvement in an accident
- Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
- Ensure instructions and security guidance from supervisor and security focal point are strictly followed
- Ensure valid documentation for passengers, items or cargo in vehicle
- Support identification and management of risks and raise concerns to supervisor or relevant colleagues
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Completion of Primary Education or High School Diploma or higher
- 2 years relevant experience as a professional driver in an international organization, UN agency, government institution, or similar professional environment
- Driving licence and knowledge of driving rules and regulations
- Demonstrated defensive driving skills and strong commitment to road safety
- Sound knowledge of vehicle maintenance including routine inspections and timely reporting of defects
- Basic administrative and record-keeping skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with UNHCR personnel, partners, and external stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and follow operational instructions
- Consistent compliance with UNHCR safety, security, and administrative procedures
- High standards of integrity and professionalism
- Familiarity with Port Sudan and Khartoum operations
- Knowledge of English and/or UN working language of the duty station if not English
