GIS Expert

The GIS Expert will provide planning and design outputs related to UN-Habitat technical support to GTH 2.0, including technical support for the processing, organization, and management of Sahab City GIS layers and public space inventory. The role supports the development of a GIS-based operation and maintenance plan for pilot interventions in Sahab City, including the Eco Park and Green Buffer, working closely with the Urban Lab team and Jordan Country Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials (presentations, maps, drawings) for workshops with city and county officials and technical staff.
• Be responsible for the drafting, revision and completion of planning materials (spatial analysis and drawings, reports).
• Participate in technical missions, if required.

Requirements

• Minimum advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Urban Geography, GIS analysis or related field relevant for sustainable urban development.
• A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• At least 2 years of proven experience in drawing and preparing plan graphical material using computer assisted design tools, with special attention to data management and processing with GIS software is required.
• Good hand drawing / sketching of macro-scale plans is an advantage.
• Good analytic and design skills in regional and citywide planning and design is an advantage.
• Experience in regional and territorial scale planning will be considered an advantage.
• Working experience in forced displacement context is an asset.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
