UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Internship for Banking Programme

The UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Internship supports the implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking by assisting with project management, research, and thematic guidance development. The intern will contribute to sustainable finance topics and gain progressively more responsibility over the course of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Support PRB implementation projects and working groups.
• Contribute to thematic guidance development.
• Conduct research on sustainable banking topics such as Nature & Biodiversity, Climate & Net-Zero, Financial Inclusion.
• Support PRB-related project management and participate in meetings with banks and external stakeholders.
• Conduct research on sustainable finance topics.
• Explore areas of personal interest and gradually take ownership of smaller initiatives.
• Progressively take on more responsibility and manage tasks and small projects independently.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
• Master's degree in finance, economics, sustainability, environmental sciences, policy and/or international relations/affairs.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
• A field of study closely related to the type of internship applied for is required.
• Fluency in oral and written English is required.
• Knowledge of another UN Language is desirable.
• Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
• Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
• Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
