The intern will contribute to daily activities coverage and digital retouching of United Nations meetings images, assist with captioning, and learn to use a digital asset management platform for uploading and archiving photographs. The internship also includes potential assistance with social media accounts and other related tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to daily activities coverage and digital retouching of current coverage and archival images of United Nations meetings.
  • Basic captioning of current coverage images.
  • Training and use of a digital asset management platform (Orange Logic) to upload and archive photographs with relevant embedded metadata for publishing on the UN Photo website.
  • Assist with social media accounts and other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Be computer literate in standard word processing and spreadsheets software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Applicants must provide a completed online application including a Cover Note and Personal History Profile.
  • The Cover Note must include degree programme, graduation date, list of IT skills and programmes proficient in, top three areas of interest, explanation of why the candidate is best for this internship, and interest in the United Nations Internship Programme.
  • Applicants who are children or siblings of a staff member are not eligible to apply.
  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience but must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
  • Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
  • Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
  • Interns are not financially remunerated; costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may require appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
