The internship is for six months, unpaid, and may be full-time or part-time. The intern will assist in exploring generative AI tools for data processing, carry out statistical analysis, design data-driven reports, develop data collection applications, support prototype development, and help with technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in exploring the use of generative AI tools to support data processing, automation, and information management tasks.
  • Carry out statistical analysis of data sets and prepare infographics and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Design and implement data-driven reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Develop data collection applications using Microsoft O365 suite - SharePoint, PowerApps, Flow (Power Automate) and MS SQL.
  • Support the development of simple prototypes or proof-of-concept applications incorporating generative AI capabilities with the CPAS technical team.
  • Help develop technical documentation and guidance on tools and procedures for data collection and data visualization.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience but must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
  • Proficient in standard word processing and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint or similar.
  • Proficient in standard office automation equipment, scanner, printer, etc.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, including willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required; knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset.
