See your match score & applyThe Project Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Durable Solution (DS) and Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, and Reintegration (RRR) activities in Iraq. The role involves liaison with local authorities and communities, mentoring field staff, and ensuring project compliance and effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Support the overall implementation of Durable Solution (DS) and Rehabilitation, Reconciliation, and Reintegration (RRR) initiatives and Projects, including oversight of financial, administrative and technical aspects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements.
- Provide operational guidance and technical supervision to DS and RRR staff across Iraq, assisting on programmatic planning and implementation.
- Monitor project progress against strategic objectives and benchmarks, recommending improvements and corrections.
- Coordinate recruitment of staff and consultants and train and mentor field staff.
- Monitor compliance with project partners, staff and implementing entities; liaise with government entities, implementing partners, UN agencies and other stakeholders.
- Support building synergies within different thematic teams and other active programmes in Iraq.
- Propose and initiate improvements in program operations and procedures.
- Coordinate with other units and departments within IOM Iraq for smooth implementation of project activities.
- Contribute to information management and visibility by providing updates, summaries, press releases and other materials.
- Coordinate development, dissemination and update of assessment and monitoring tools; draft SOPs if required.
- Produce quality progress financial, narrative and other reports related to project activities.
- Undertake duty travel as required to monitor and support project implementation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Law, International Relations, Political or Social Sciences, International Development, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or, University degree in the above fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in programme management, implementation and project development.
- Experience in coordination of various projects under the programme to ensure maximum outputs.
- Experience in liaising with government authorities and other national/international institutions.
- Experience in emergency settings with in-depth knowledge of IOM/UN programme/project life cycles.
- Experience with UN and International Agencies, international or local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) preferred.
- Work experience in the Region is an advantage.
- Knowledge of UN/IOM’s regulations, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of project budgeting and financial management.
- Knowledge and experience in working with PRIMA is an advantage.
- Sound writing, communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organization skills, analytical and creative thinking.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an advantage.
