Senior Partnerships Officer (Private Sector)

The Senior Partnerships Officer (Private Sector) leads the implementation of FAO's private sector strategy to enhance collaboration with private sector stakeholders globally. The role involves managing partnerships, supporting capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and representing FAO in inter-agency meetings to advance sustainable agrifood systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation of the FAO private sector strategy at the global, regional and national level.
• Lead multidisciplinary team(s), participate in teams/committees, and represent FAO at inter-agency meetings.
• Identify strategic collaboration and partnerships with non-state actors for the fulfilment of the FAO Strategic Framework.
• Elaborate an annual work plan aligned with the FAO Strategic Framework and programmes.
• Implement and monitor collaborative work with partners including meetings, joint projects, and information sharing.
• Provide support to staff at headquarters and decentralized offices on partnership methods and managing relations with non-state actors.
• Advise FAO entities and governing bodies on policy discussions related to multi-stakeholder partnerships.
• Oversee and review quality and appropriateness of country-specific partnership materials and processes.
• Plan, organize and participate in capacity development activities.
• Lead the development and implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation system for FAO's private sector partnerships.
• Produce annual report on the implementation of the private sector strategy for Governing Bodies.
• Support coordination and coherence of partnership functions across partners, focusing on private sector entities, foundations, financial institutions, and investment partners.
• Propose ways to optimize partnership services and improve service delivery efficiency.
• Analyze partnering processes and propose workflow improvements engaging other divisions/units.
• Advise on gaps in private sector partnerships and propose improvements for partner engagement and reporting.
• Review existing tools and IT platforms for partnerships and propose improvements.
• Monitor and report on private sector partnerships and establish robust reporting mechanisms.
• Support internal communication and promote knowledge sharing and cooperation.
• Participate in international, regional or national meetings providing programmatic and substantive expertise.

Requirements

• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in rural development, political science, international cooperation, development or business, economics or a related field to FAO's mandate.
• Ten years of relevant experience in international cooperation and/or business with a focus on sustainability practices and public sector partnerships, donor programmes, government institutions, other UN agencies private sector functions; civil society organizations and/or NGOs, negotiations and/or public relations/advocacy.
• Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English.
• Intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - level B) of another FAO Official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
• Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is essential.
• Work experience in resource mobilization is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated results in partnership building, effective negotiations particularly with multi-stakeholders, public relations/advocacy in the areas of food security, social and economic development.
• Experience in managing relations with non-state actors, particularly the private sector.
• Experience in private sector partnerships and negotiation in the UN common system with a variety of stakeholders in the areas of food security and/or rural development is considered a strong asset.
• Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of another FAO Official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is considered an asset.
